In this role, Trzpuc will provide timely 4-H youth development research-based information, resources, education, leadership and support to meet the needs of youth, while building relationships to enhance and carry out the mission of SDSU Extension throughout the county. “As a 4-H alumnus, Emily has a long history with 4-H. She brings energy, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic to serving youth and families throughout these counties,” said Amber Erickson, SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Development Field Operations Coordinator. More about Emily Trzpuc Emily Trzpuc grew up on her family’s ranch near Kathryn, North Dakota. She became involved in 4-H as a 7-year-old when her mom, Holly, started the Sandy Critters 4-H Club. “I always enjoyed getting to showcase the projects I had worked really hard on or the talents I had gained during our local Achievement Days,” Trzpuc said. Although she participated in several project areas, Baked Goods was the area Trzpuc became most engaged in. “I entered something in nearly every baked goods category I could - bars, cookies, pies, cakes, bread - it was non-stop baking at my house during the days leading up to Achievement Days.” In addition to perfecting the art and science of baking, Trzpuc explained that she developed many leadership skills through 4-H. “I didn’t realize it until I became an adult, but the public speaking skills and ability to clearly express my opinions, that I developed through 4-H, helped me in college and many other areas of my life,” said Trzpuc, who is eager to help the youth she serves develop skills through 4-H that will serve them today and into the future. “I am eager to work with youth, families and volunteers throughout the counties I serve. It is my goal to inspire youth to be the best versions of themselves and achieve their best,” she said. Trzpuc added that involvement in 4-H also guided her career path. She is a 2018 Animal Science graduate of North Dakota State University, where she also received degrees in extension education and equine science. Prior to serving South Dakotans as the new SDSU Extension 4-H Youth Program Advisor for Hand, Hyde and Potter Counties, Trzpuc worked as an intern for North Dakota State University Extension. To contact Trzpuc, e-mail her by email or 605.853.2738.
