is said to have been an elaborate house. Aggergaard had donated land just south of his home for the cemetery, which originally bore his name. He directed construction of the mausoleum prior to his death, bringing in large slabs of granite on the Great Northern Railroad. It required eight horses to haul the load up the hill to the site for the mausoleum. Aggergaard suffered from heart troubles and he died at home in 1921. His body was held in a bronze casket at the Burch Undertaking Chapel in Sioux Falls until May. His casket had a glass that could be slid down so the upper part of his body could be viewed. Initially, the mausoleum contained a glass window that allowed visitors to view the casket. When Elsine died in 1941 and her body was placed in the mausoleum, the windows were permanently closed off.
