shop online at www.missourivalleyshopper.com July 28, 2015 • Page 13 Schuetzenfest German Heritage Festival Slated Aug. 2 BOW VALLEY, Neb. — The Schuetzenfest German Heritage Festival will be held at the Bow Valley (Nebraska) Ballroom and Grounds on Sunday, Aug. 2. Held every five years, the Schuetzenfest starts with a 5k run at 7:30 a.m. and continues with a German Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul, a 1903 Romanesque Revival church. At 11 a.m., there is a parade to the Bow Valley Hall led by the Schuetzenfest Drill Squad. Members of the Drill Squad will compete to see who can shoot a handcrafted wooden bird off a 30-foot pole. The successful sharpshooter becomes King of the Schuetzenfest and chooses his Queen. The day will also include a talent contest, a traditional German dancing performance, and food, beverages and music and games on the grounds all day. Looking for the best deal in town?
