The reception starts at 5 p.m. You must have a ticket for the Tour and Reception. For more information, contact the CCHS at 605-624-8266. Five beautiful locations have been selected on the annual Yankton Area Arts’ Tour of Homes to be held Sunday, Dec. 3, from 1-4 p.m. This year’s tour features the festively decorated homes of Leo and Carol Kopetsky, Tim and Joan Branaugh, Todd and Audra Hecht, and Ted and Jennifer Powell, as well as the beautifully restored Walnut Village. From inspiring home design and décor, to delicious desserts, to unique holiday shopping, Yankton Area Arts offers great variety and splendor this holiday season. All Tour of Homes proceeds fund arts education and community arts programming in Yankton. Tour of Homes tickets can be purchased from YAA board members, at GAR Hall, Rexall Drug, and Yankton Hy-Vee. Yankton Figure Skating Show Dec. 1 Yankton Figure Skating will present “Holiday on Ice” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the Pine Acres 4-H Kiwanis Ice Rink, 901 Whiting Drive, Yankton. Admission is an item or items for the food pantry. Refreshments will be served after the program. ‘Poker Alice Christmas’ At Gayville Hall MV Shopper CLASSIFIEDS M I S S O U R I VA L L E Y GAYVILLE — Gayville Hall presents its ninth annual staging of “A Poker Alice Christmas,” starring the Poker Alice Band and country singer Brenda George, at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, in Gayville. The veteran South Dakota band, performing since the mid-1980s, will play selections from its eclectic repertoire of western swing, country, and old-time popular tunes, plus seasonal favorites. Boyd Bristow of East of Westreville fame and a former member of the band will sub for band leader and fellow guitarist Nick Schwebach, who is recovering from surgery. Owen DeJong of Wakonda, who holds a master’s degree in violin performance, plays fiddle. Other band members are Larry Rohrer of Beresford, Dennis Jensen of Alcester, and Al Remund of Vermillion. George, who sang with Poker Alice in the late 1980s, has reunited with the band twice annually at Gayville Hall for a decade. Gayville Hall is at 502 Washington Street in Gayville. The shelter serves Yankton and 14 surrounding counties, helping with stray and unwanted animals, community programming, and volunteer opportunities. This past May, HHS finished it’s three-year, 8,000 square foot remodel of a former car dealership and opened its first “fullyfunctional” facility. Today, the shelter can hold up to 65 animals at one time and plans to rescue over 600 animals in 2018. Community programming includes pet therapy and education in our hospitals, schools and businesses; a food pantry serving pet owners in financial crisis, vaccination clinics for owners, and Trap-Neuter-Release efforts in our communities. Penelope HHS operates under a board of directors, staff members, and over 65 active volunteers. Your support ensures our community shelter will remain open. Heartland Humane Society is located at 3400 E Hwy 50.
