First Responders in Yankton County area towns including Lesterville, Irene, Volin, Gayville and the Lewis and Clark Lake area respond to their assigned regions to care for the patients until the ambulance arrives. First Responders of the Yankton County Search and Rescue are also occasionally called out to assist ambulance personnel in and around Yankton. Area businesses and organizations with AEDs are invited to bring AEDs to this free checkup. Yankton County EMS personnel will make sure they are working properly and will have additional supplies and information to help you be prepared in an emergency. Yankton offers many recreational activities involving water, and Yankton County EMS constantly works to ensure everyone is safe and prepared for water emergencies. The purpose of this event is to educate young people and their families on the importance of water safety and provide free life jackets to youth of all ages.
