You may have seen her volunteeri g with Avera S ed Heart Hospital as well as with area schools. to i Pa R in in Av Sacr t However, her largest volunteer role is as a modern-day Mrs. Claus to many in need during the Christmas Holiday. r Toys For Kids (TFK) grew out of a toy-giveaway program initiated by Robinson Motors which partnered with Head Start families. In 2004 the wa i program grew to include area children from low-income families, TFK has helped to provide Christmas presents for more than 2,000 children from approximately 900 families. Community-wide agencies, organizations and individuals are collaborating with Toys for a a Tots for increased efficiency to the program. Compiling one source of information will f also eliminate duplicity of gifts and enhance outreach to more area children. Each year Pat turns a small space in the Yankton Mall into Santa’s workshop where she a and her “elves” collect, organize, wrap and distribute hundreds of gifts. During the month of December, Robinson is blessed to see first-hand the wonder of the holiday season. r Generous givers joyfully donate toys, books and games of all sorts with a visibly warmed heart, and humble parents tearfully receive presents that they wouldn’t have been able to dn n provide on their own. Yankton’s caring neighbors help Santa Claus make the holiday special for the children ys in the Yankton area. Many orginizations host their own toy drice to contribute to Toy for a Tots. Sacred Heart School 2010 4th grade students are shown holding many of the toys that were collected at SHS’s annual Thanksgiving Mass. Close to 200 toys were collected at the special mass and donated to the local “Toys for Tots” program.
