Showtimes are at 7 p.m. With their production of “Macbeth,” the SDSF plans to thrill and chill its audience, in a play that explores the quest for power, the dangers of vaulting ambition, fate vs. free will and the frailty of the human condition. The production features an all-star company of seasoned professionals hired from competitive national and regional markets, USD theatre faculty, and younger professionals drawn from USD’s Theatre program. In addition to the full-length Shakespeare production, the SDSF will feature live music in Prentis Park, along with vending of food and beverages, beginning at 6 p.m. each evening. Workshops and educational programming for all ages will be offered throughout the four days of the Festival. A special Scholars’ Roundtable Discussion, hosted by USD’s College of Arts and Sciences and Department of English, will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, in Prentis Park. Join national and international Shakespeare scholars as they lead a discussion on past productions of Macbeth, the choices made in this production, and enduring questions of what makes Macbeth so special.
