Hundreds of anglers lucky enough to secure tags prowled the tailwaters below Gavins Point Dam Wednesday for the start of the monthlong snagging season. A local wildlife official said it was a very good turnout of fishermen (and women) considering the mid-week time slot. One of those who hooked a keeper was Scott Phillips of Tyndall, who brought in this 23.2-pound fish, which measured 34 inches from the front eye to the fork in the tail.
