The Contact Center is best known for its Food Pantry, which serves an average of 178 households each month (510 individuals). The Contact Center also provides emergency assistance for partial rent, utility shut offs, and emergency medication. We have been able to provide assistance to The Contact Center is an emergency ­ assistance agency, which has served the Greater Yankton area 224 households in an emergency situation in the first ten months of 2013. We also provide protective payee services to over 90 individuals, many of whom are referred to us by the Social Security Administration. We are responsible for managing their checking account, paying bills, developing a budget, and disbursing a weekly check to them for groceries and other living essentials. Our Back Pack project was able to provide back packs to 193 children, K­8th grade. Our Holiday Food & Fruit Basket program is rapidly approaching! We provide a Christmas food basket (including everything needed to prepare a full Christmas meal) to low income families and individuals or a fruit basket to the elderly and shut­ins. Individuals with an active SNAP card can sign up at the Contact Center November 18th through December 9th.
