One Mission, One Team
ay 23rd
AED Clinic
National Emergency
Medical Services
Week is a time set
aside each year to
recognize the dedication of our local
Emergency Medical
Technicians and
First Responders.
From 10am-2pm area
businesses that have
AED’s (automated
external defibrillators)
either in their store or
place on employment
are invited to the
Yankton County EMS
building. Yankton
County EMS personnel will make sure
they are in correct
working order as well
as provide first aid
supplies if needed.
There is no charge for
the AED check-up.
Yankton County
Emergency Medical
Services (EMS)
will be celebrating
National EMS week
May 19-25th
with the theme of
“EMS: One Mission,
One Team”.
The National EMS Week is a time for all
of us to take a moment to thank all of
the people involved in our Emergency
Medical Services. Our local EMS
providers work for us 24 hours a day, 365
days a year. The holidays and vacations
that many of us are able to take off and
spend with families is not always a possibility for these folks. The Dispatchers,
First Responders, Fire Personnel, Search
and Rescue, Paramedics and others are
always on standby to handle emergency
calls. These highly trained EMS providers
assure that the highest quality of care will
always be provided to those in need of
help. This team has only one mission “to help save lives.”
May 22nd
Yankton County EMS Day
for Children
The event is 4pm to 8pm at the Yankton
County EMS building at 805 Capitol. Children
from 1-17 yrs. who attend will receive free
Life Jackets. Yankton Search and Rescue will
be there showing their dive equipment, boats
and providing the proper fitting of life jackets
to the kids. Larry Hintgen from the USCG will
be providing water and boating safety, John
Rokosz from NPS will have a canoe and
equipment there for canoe safety, and Karla
Zeutenhorst from USACE has games and
prizes as well as water safety info. Enjoy hot
dogs and drinks while you’re there!
