Department Of Education’s Machinery Consignment
Strategic Plan Focuses On
Championing Excellence
AUCTION
PIERRE, S.D. – The
South Dakota Department
of Education has released
its strategic plan, which
will guide the department’s
activities through 2024.
“Chief among our
priorities is championing
excellence in the South
Dakota K-12 education
system,” said Secretary of
Education Dr. Ben Jones.
“To that end, our top two
priorities are to implement
focused initiatives to
decrease the opportunity
gap for students in
poverty and to establish a
networked community of
allies focused on serving
Native American learners
to improve academic
outcomes.”
The plan consists of
four strategic directions:
championing excellence,
maximizing and building
relationships, achieving
effectiveness, and
cultivating professional
culture. The strategies
are intended to achieve
the department’s vision
of supporting local
educators, investing
in talent development,
fostering research and
innovation, supporting
the whole learner, and
reinventing accountability.
The strategic plan
can be found on the
Department of Education’s

it with several dilapidated out buildings. There are two grain bins on the south-east corner of the acreage that are not
included, but are included with the farmland auction. There are many fruit trees on this property and would make an
excellent site for a new home.

acres under irrigation. The center pivot on this farm is approximately 3-years old with an electric pump. A wide variety
of soil types on this farm of 0 to 2% slope and a Crop Productivity Index ratings on a majority of it at 90% to 76%. This
is also a very high-quality piece of farmland!
Attention Developers—Hunters—Outdoorsmen—Investors!
Tract 5: 141.39 Acres with approximately 1,600 Feet of undeveloped Missouri River Frontage, 64 Acres of Farm ground
with 41.35 acres under irrigation and the balance into timber.
Legal: Parcel D SW ¼; Parcel E SE ¼; Parcel F SW 1/4 all in 15-92-53 AND Parcel G in E ½; Parcel H in W ½ all in 2292-53, Norway Township, Clay County, SD. 2018 Taxes are $794.28. This Legal Description is subject to change due
to recent survey.
A very rare opportunity! FSA office shows 63.87 acres of crop ground with 41.35 acres under irrigation. Center pivot
on this property is an older pivot with a diesel pump. There is approximately 1600 feet of undeveloped Missouri River
shoreline on this property! Access to this property will be given with an approximately 7-acre, 80-foot wide strip of land
going from Bergen Church, down the west fence of Tract 4. Timber and cedar trees surround the tillable farmland making
this a hunter’s dream property. There is also an artesian well and pond in the timber. Trophy Whitetails, abundant Turkey,
Waterfowl and even excellent fishing! If you are looking for a piece of property with unlimited sporting opportunities, this
is the piece for you!
Great opportunity for development too! Missouri River frontage lots are very scarce and highly sought after; a rare
opportunity to subdivide and make into a whole new river community! The Trust has deeded an additional 80-foot wide
strip of land to gain access to this property from Timber Road. Buyer will be responsible for building road, clearing trees
& building driveway. Develop into a great community or build your own dream home!
Terms on Tracts 4 & 5: These farms are NOT being sold subject to an existing lease and will be available for farming
or renting in the 2020 Crop Season. Possession of Property—April 1st, 2020 when the current farming lease expires.
If different buyer’s purchase Tracts 4 & 5; the center pivot stops will have to be moved on Tract 4 at the new buyer’s
expense.
Additional Terms for all Tracts at Auction: 10% Non-Refundable down payment due the day of auction with the balance
due on closing. Clay County Title Company, Closing Agent. Closing on or before March 6th, 2020. 2018 Taxes due in
2019 will be paid for by the seller (except Tract 3 will be prorated). All 2019 taxes will be the new buyer’s responsibility.
Title Insurance used with a 50/50 costs split between buyer and seller. Sellers will remove personal property (farm
equipment, iron, etc.) and have until April 1st to remove. Any items left after April 1st will become property and the
responsibility of the new buyer. Center Pivots will be included in the purchase price of each farm. No test or inspections
have been conducted on the wells or pivots and are being sold, as-is; but believe to be in working condition. Auctioneers
are acting as Agents for the seller. No Survey provided, selling “Per Acre x Taxable Acres”. Tracts will be sold in auction
order. Tracts 4 & 5 will be combined and offered as a single tract; no other tracts will be combined.
Note: Wow, what an opportunity! While there has been a substantial amount of farmland change hands in our county
this year; none of it compares to the quality of these farms! These are tracts that you will be proud to own and add to
your current farming operation. Full information packets with maps available by request. Watch for signs on the property
and “Girard Auction” Flags on the corners! Refreshments provided by Farm Credit Services of America.
