Beyond music, both returning and new entertainment
options will be available. Returning will be the popular
Children’s Area, sponsored by Freeman Public Schools.
The area will feature games, bouncy houses, and other
entertainment for youth. New to this year will be entertainment provided by Sioux Falls-based Thunder Road,
including laser tag and more.
New to this year will be a “Mutton Run” — competitive 10K and 5K races hosted by the Salem Mennonite
Home, followed by a more laid-back 1-mile run/walk.

Finally, the festival’s judged chislic competition will
return, featuring the region’s top chislic makers battling
it out for bragging rights of the best makers of South
Dakota’s official State Nosh. This year’s chislic vendors
at the Festival will compete in two categories, “Classic
Sheep” and “New Age Nosh.” Winners of each competition will receive $250 and a custom-designed trophy.
