The Beach Boys To Appear At SD State Fair
HURON, S.D. – As The Beach Boys mark more than a
half century of making music, the group continues to
ride the crest of a wave unequalled in America’s musical

into town to perform on Friday, Aug. 30 at the SD State

Rawlins Trio To Perform At Yankton UCC
The Sanctuary of the United Church of Christ, 210
West Fifth Street, Yankton, will present “An Afternoon
with The Rawlins Trio” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.
The Rawlins Piano Trio is a dynamic group of performers, teachers and scholars, distinguishing itself in
arts outreach, masterclasses and a variety of performances. The program is very audience friendly — all
Romantic but made up of 3 different aspects of romanticism. They are playing the Hummel Grand Trio
in E-flat (early romantic and virtuosic like Mozart),
the Clara Schuman Trio from 1847 and a set of charming character pieces by Iowa native Mortimer Wilson
representing late romantic. The members of the Trio
are on the faculty of the University of South Dakota
Department of Music and include violinist Ioana Galu,
cellist Sonja Kraus and pianist Susan Keith Gray.
A free-will offering is requested to help offset costs;
any profits made will go toward restoring the historic
stained glass windows in the Sanctuary.

through grade 9 to participate in the first Building
Block Competition which
will be held one day only
on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the
2019 Sioux Empire Home
Show™.
The competition is being presented at the Home
Show in an effort to introduce young students into
the home-building industry
and help build our community’s future construction
workforce.
During the competition,
students will build a home
using a set of building
blocks that they are given.
Students will be divided
based on school grades
and their homes will be
judged based on creativity, structure and livability.
The winning student that
is chosen from each of the
six competition levels will
win $50 cash and a medal.
Guardians will be given a
$2 off coupon for regular
admission to the Home
