Nilges, who just completed his first year as the economic development corporation’s executive director, grew up in the area. For him, his community has always been a place he proudly referred to as “home.” “Living in a community that is within a few miles of a larger, more well-known city [Sioux City, Iowa], definitely has its challenges, but it also presents numerous opportunities which has resulted in significant investment in the community,” Nilges said. Proof of that investment is shown in many ways. From a newly developed industrial park, to residential development and corporate reinvestment, North Sioux City is experiencing some major advancements. “Our manufacturing industry in particular has seen some impressive growth in the last several years,” Nilges said. “A couple that come to mind are Royal Canin and Reds All Natural. They will be out in all types of weather conditions, wearing bright orange vests and be near a sign that says “Traffic Survey Ahead”. www.missourivalleyshopper.com The National Visitor Use Monitoring (NVUM) survey is being conducted on the Black Hills National Forest beginning Oct 2, 2018 and will go through Sept 30, 2019. The information gathered is useful for forest planning as well as local community tourism planning. It provides National Forest managers with an estimate of how many people actually recreate on federal lands, what activities they engage in while there and how satisfied people were with their visit. Economic impact to the local economy is also captured in the survey. The survey gathers basic visitor information. Surveys are voluntary and all responses are confidential; names are not included. Interviews last about 10 minutes. Questions asked include: where they recreated on the Forest, how many people they traveled with, how long they were on the Forest, what other recreation sites they visited while on the Forest, and how satisfied they were with the facilities and services provided. About a third of the visitors will be asked to complete a confidential survey on recreation spending during their trip. “Although the survey is entirely voluntary, participation is extremely important so we can assess visitor experiences on the Forest and strive to make it a better place to visit,” said Annie Apodaca, Forest Recreation Program Manager on the Black Hills National Forest. “We would appreciate it if visitors would pull over and answer a few questions. It’s important for interviewers to www.missourivalleyshopper.com talk with local people using the forest, as well as out-ofarea visitors, so all types of visitors are represented in the study.” Information about the National Visitor Use Monitoring program can be found at https://www.fs.fed. us/recreation/programs/nvum/ For more information on the Black Hills National Forest, visit http://www.fs.usda.gov/blackhills www.missourivalleyshopper.com www.missourivalleyshopper.com www.missourivalleyshopper.com www.missourivalleyshopper.com Visit our Web site at www.missourivalleyshopper.com Visit our Web site at www.missourivalleyshopper.com Visit our Web site at www.missourivalleyshopper.com Visit our Web site at www.missourivalleyshopper.com www.missourivalleyshopper.com www.missourivalleyshopper.com Snap Up a Deal www.missourivalleyshopper.com www.missourivalleyshopper.com in the Classifieds Visit Wanted Helpour Web site at www.missourivalleyshopper.com Full time cow/calf & feed lot Call or Visit go online our Web site at to browse, www.missourivalleyshopper.com buy or sell!
