The Department of Revenue’s motor vehicle division recently unveiled the new account setup in order to better serve its customers. Users may now create an account through three steps, as opposed to the previous system’s seven-step method. The updated system also allows users to link business and individual accounts, providing vehicle owners the convenience of managing all of their vehicle actions through one account. “The Department of Revenue strives to be a leader in technology and provide convenient methods for our customers to conduct motor vehicle transactions,” Motor Vehicle Division Director Lisa Weyer said. Since MySDCars was launched in 2013, an average of 70,000 South Dakota motor vehicle registrations have been renewed online per year. The online portal also allows South Dakotans to order specialty license plates, report a sale, print a seller’s permit, change their address, opt-in for email renewal notifications and more. MySDCars is one of three options for South Dakotans to renew their motor vehicle registrations. Vehicle owners may also renew through their county treasurer’s office or at any of the nine self-service terminals located throughout the state. For more information, visit http://mysdcars. sd.gov. BROOKINGS, S.D. - Although current weather conditions have detained them, the yellow flowers of spring are beginning to emerge. Thriving in cool damp weather, if dandelions were not sprayed last fall, Paul O. Johnson, SDSU Extension Weed Science Coordinator said South Dakotans can expect to see them emerge soon. "Spring treatments are not as effective as fall but can be used to stop the yellow flowers from producing viable seed," he said of the perennial weed that can produce multiple flowers. A large plant can produce up to 50 flowers with several seeds per flower. This spring, Johnson said herbicide treatments can be used, either the weed and feed type granule or a liquid spray. He explained that in order for the chemical to be effective, it must enter thought the leaves. Spray products can be applied with a variety of equipment. "Keep sprays coarse and use low pressure to reduce the chance of spray going on non-target sensitive plants. would also end on Jan. 1, except during the firearm deer Remember the older the dandelion the harder it will be to hunting seasons already established for these refuges. kill," Johnson said. GFP Commission Proposes Muzzleloader, Archery And Youth Deer Seasons PIERRE, S.D. – The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) Commission proposed that the muzzleloader deer hunting season run from Dec. 1, 2018 – Jan. 1, 2019, for both any deer and antlerless whitetail deer licenses. As a result of a proposed limited access unit in portions of Hughes and Sully counties, it was proposed that this new unit be closed to where antlerless archery and muzzleloader licenses were previously valid. The proposal requires Black Hills archery deer hunters to obtain and possess a free access permit. Access permits for the Black Hills will be issued on an unlimited basis. The archery deer season was proposed to end on Jan. 1, 2019. Like archery and muzzleloader deer seasons, the youth deer season will close on Jan. 1, 2019.
