The entry may be multi-color, black and white, or a single color in ink, paint, pastel crayon or pencil. Many prizes will be awarded in the different age groups at the state level. In addition, the winning entry will be entered in the national contest. All the states and territories in the United States are part of the program. It teaches a greater awareness, increasing respect and appreciation for natural resources. Pairing science with visual art strives to initiate curiosity in both subjects. The program is a outreach youth education project of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife. The entries need to be submitted by March 15, 2018 to the SD Junior Duck Stamp Contest, D.C.
