S.D. Grassland
Coalition Jan.
5 Annual
Meeting
BROOKINGS, S.D. - The
S.D. Grassland Coalition will
wrap up a successful 2016
with the Annual Road Show
featuring Dr. Dwayne Beck,
Manager of Dakota Lakes
Research Farm on Thursday,
Jan. 5, 2017 at the AmerInn
in Chamberlain (1981 E King
St) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
(central).
As always, the road show
features a prominent speaker
who cws a cooperative arrangement between South
Dakota State University and
the producer/members. The
primary goal of the cooperative is to identify, research
and demonstrate methods of
strengthening and stabilizing
the agricultural economy.
"Dr. Beck's work at
Dakota Lakes has been very
interesting. In a nutshell,
healthy grasslands can serve
as the model for soil health,
and livestock integration
into farming operations can
begin to mimic some of the
soil health benefits found in
healthy grasslands," Bauman
said.
During the Road Show,
Beck will discuss topics such
as the soil carbon cycle, crop
rotation, bale and swath
grazing and remote livestock
monitoring.
All are welcome and there
is no fee to attend this workshop, but RSVP is requested.
Please RSVP to RSVP: Judge
Jessop, by email, or at
605.280.0127.
