Thirty, 4-H youth from 12 eastern South Dakota counties participated in the contest, held August 5, 2015 at the Sioux Empire Fair. First PREMIER Bank/ PREMIER Bankcard sponsored the event, which was open to all eastern South Dakota 4-H members. They were asked to speak on the theme of how CHARACTER COUNTS! (tm) connects with a personal experience, a 4-H project or a current event. Award winners In the senior division, Kiera Leddy from Grant County received first place and received a $1,000 scholarship. Logan Hattervig of Miner County placed sceond and received a $500 scholarship. Maggie O’Brien of Codington County placed third and Molly Kroeger from Lincoln County placed fourth. All four winners received a plaque from First PREMIER. In the junior division, Kylee Mogen of Grant County placed first and received a $500 certificate of deposit. Sydney Walker of Codington County placed second and received a $250 certificate. Laura Bogue of Lincoln County placed third. All three winners received plaques from First PREMIER.
