YANKTON HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING The major schedule of events is as follows: Thursday, September 17th 5:00 pm YHS Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet in the HS Commons. 7:00 pm Coronation of the “Pioneer Prince” and “Pioneer Princess” in the main g y m n a s i um at the YHS Summit Activity Center. The MCs are Sophie Kouri and Avery BrockYankton High School announces its berg. This will be followed by the traditional burning of the “Y”. 2015 PIONEER DAYS schedule. Yankton High School has prided itself on exciting and unique homecoming activities ever since 1925 when homecoming first originated. This year marks the 90th homecoming celebration. On Tuesday, September 8th Seniors chose the 2015 Royalty. In alphabetical order they are: “Pioneer Princess” candidates: Brianna Benjamin, Sophie Drotzman, Rachel Frick, Rebecca Frick, Erin Luken, and Ashley VanMeeteren; “Pioneer Prince” candidates: Colby Benson, Gabe Dannenbring, Tanner Frick, Joseph Kelly, Jeffrey Koller, and Reid Sawatzke. From the royalty a “Pioneer Prince” and “Pioneer Princess” will be selected. Pioneer Days coordinators Cassi Pietz and Pat Kortan are excited for the 2015 homecoming events. Friday, September 18th High School Student Activities 12:15 pm Student assembly “Gong Show” for Senior High Students ONLY. The MCs are McKenzie Schroeder and Ike Johnson. 2:00 pm Students dismissed School District and Community Activities 2:30 pm Parade-announced by the coronation MCs Parade Route: Due to construction, the parade will start at the corner of Pearl and 3rd Street, go west on 3rd to Cedar, go south on Cedar to Riverside Drive, and go east on Riverside Drive to the parking lot for the Dakota Territorial Capitol building where the parade will end. To alleviate congestion, parade goers should park no farther east than Mulberry Street. 5:00-6:30 pm “Burger King Tailgate party” This is sponsored by the Yankton Adult Athletic Booster Club. It will be held in the southwest corner of Crane-Youngworth. 7:00 pm Football game: Yankton “Bucks” vs Aberdeen Central “Golden Eagles” 3rd street G 9:00 pm -11:30 pm Pioneer Day Dance – Activity Center Commons Cost is $4.00.
