National Emergency Services
(EMS) Week has been observed
annually since first declared by
President Gerald Ford in 1974.
It brings together local
communities and medical
personnel to recognize and
honor the dedication of those
who provide the day-to-day
y
lifesaving services of emergency
fe
medicine’s “front line.”
Yankton County
Emergency Medical
Services employs four fulltime Paramedics, two full
fu
time Emergency Medical
Technicians (EMTs), four
Ts
part-time Paramedics, 14

Two of Yankton
County’s ambulances
s
are each staffed with two
ffe
responders, 24 hours a day,
y
365 days a year, and are
ready to respond whenever
the call comes in.
Yankton County EMS
has a fleet consisting of five
ambulances, one Advanced
Life Support response
f
vehicle, one mass casualty
response truck, and a
6-wheel all-terrain vehicle.
Yankton County EMS
would like to thank
Yankton County’s
area First Responders.
Without their dedication
the Yankton County
Emergency Medical
Service team would not be
complete.
Yankton County First
Responders provide
emergency care first
on the scene and
support Emergency
Medical Technicians
and Paramedics. First
Responders perform
assessments, take vital
signs, provide treatment
t
um
for trau a and medical
