The Yankton Community Library,
515 Walnut Street, is the place to be
every week of the year. However,
during National Library Week, we had
special events that invited attendees,
both children and adults, to dress up
like princes and princesses and attend
our Royal Celebration. We also held a
Superheroes story time and Facebook
class. Everyone was invited to tell
us what book changed their life as
our theme was “Lives Change @ your
libraryTM.”
Our summer reading program
registration begins May 5 and
participants can begin logging reading
minutes on May 19. Our kick off is June
2 and the fun begins with programs for
all ages, from preschool through adult.
Children’s programs take place every
day and adults have several programs
each month during June and July.
Children can read for book bucks and
purchase prizes at our Summer Store.
If you wish to support the library, join
the Friends of the Yankton Community
Library. Friends meets the third
Monday of each month and holds book
sales the ?rst Saturday of each month.
Their annual fundraiser is Gourmet
Guys. They spend the entire year giving
back to the library by supporting our
summer reading program as well as
other programs. They also purchase
items on the library’s “wish list” so that
we can better serve our patrons.
